First, identify if your promotion is a blanket promotion (applies to every product in your brand’s catalog) or a product-specific promotion (only applies to a certain number of products).
- Blanket promotion: If you’d like to run a blanket promotion, ie. Extra 10% off all products or free shipping on all products, please send an email with the promotion request to
- brand@outdoorprolink.com.
- Product-specific promotion: Fill out this spreadsheet with the promotion information and which UPCs should be included in the promotion. Once the spreadsheet is filled out, email it to brand@outdoorprolink.com.
You may choose from these different types of promotions:
- Discount on cost
- Free shipping (with or without a price threshold, i.e. Free shipping on orders over $50)
- Closeout
How to fill out the template for a product-specific promotion:
First, fill out columns A1 - D1 in the "Promo Details" Tab. Here's what we need:
- Promotion Type (select from dropdown field):
- Discount from pro price
- Free Shipping* - we assume all free shipping promotions are for lower 48 states only, unless stated otherwise in "Promo Description" column
- Free Shipping on orders over $x* - provide detail about threshold in "Promo Description" column
- Closeouts - we do not always accept closeouts, depending on inventory levels and other factors. Our team will review the closeout details and let you know if we are able to move forward
- Promo Description - Use this field to provide a detailed description of the promotion. ie. "Extra 10% off carabiners and harnesses" or "Free shipping on all orders over $50" or "Extra 10 - 20% off backpacks"
- Start Date
- End Date
Now, fill in the Promo Detail Table for all products included in your promotion. Please provide the following (pricing columns are not required for free shipping promotions):
- UPC
- Style Name
- OPL Cost: this is Outdoor Prolink's normal discounted cost as agreed to in your current Outdoor Prolink term sheet (usually 10% below wholesale).
- If you are not sure what OPL Cost is for your brand, you can find it by logging in to the Distributor Portal, and going to Inventory > Export All Catalog in the menu. You will find OPL Cost in column H of the exported spreadsheet.
- OPL Promo Cost: this is the final discounted cost to OPL during the promo period
- For example, if your promotion is “extra 10% off pro price”, this column will be 10% off the OPL Cost (column C)
- MSRP (not required, but helpful)
- Wholesale (not required, but helpful)
FAQs about promos:
- Does Outdoor Prolink cost share for promotions? No, the brand is responsible for covering the entire cost of any promotion.
- What is the turn around time for getting a promotion live? It depends greatly upon the number of UPCs affected and the overall complexity of the promotion, but we generally ask for at least 1 week notice prior to the requested start date.
- Is there any additional cost for running a promotion? Nope!
